Home Cooking And Saved..

Hi again..

I know..it's been awhile since my last post, well, err about 8 months ago, to be exact..:-) What can i say...there were so many things happened these last few months... my growing sons sure need a lot of attention..or maybe is it me who listens to them too much....emmm

Anyway...let's get back to business ...( err...is it...?)

When you live in a very expensive city like london, you just have to adjust here and there...adjust here means the $$$$, of course. Whoever we are, sometimes we need to get out and eat out. It's fine when it's just the supersaver McD economy burger. But when the tougue craves for something different, something unique, there is a high price tag that comes with it.

When my family and me have a unique homey type of food at a 'homey' restaurant, it usually would cost around 20-30 pounds. That's only an average 1-2 star restaurant, let's not mention the more expensive classy restaurants... i guess it's ok if you only have once or twice family outing and eatng out in a month..but if it's every weekend, then, you are really making the restaurants' owners some happy people...UNLESS, if money is not an issue to you....( if this is the case, i dont think you will be reading this blog at the place first, isnt it....?)

Most of the time, when we have a planned outing, we would cook some food, have them ready packed in a thermos box, so they will stay warm when it's lunch time. Well, it's London, it can be rainy and cold even during summer time.

In short, you can save quite a lot of monies when you have your homecooked food with you where ever you are...you can have a nasi lemak ikan bilis in Paris when everyone else is having the boring fries....wallah! Happy Cooking...( i'm eating a donut that i make just now...yummy)

Wanna Call FREE Anywhere In The World?

Hello again

When one lives abroad, literally alone with no relatives and families, telephone usually is the only way to get connected. Unfortunately, phone bill can then become a pain in the buttock ( ass sounded so..emm well, assy...lol). One would then wish that he or she can just pick up the phone and talk ,talk and talk for hours for, FREE. So the question is, is it possible?

Well, thank God for the technology, now one can do just that. You'll need two things. Computer and Internet.

Both you and the person you talk to will need to be on the same software package to be able to talk to each other. One example of such software is Skype. If you havent had it yet, you should be able to download it for free. Another way of communicating online is through instant messaging such as Yahoo Messenger.

Better yet, you can even video chat if you have web cams but the audio quality might be somewhat poor.

You must understand that this type of communication is ONLY free when you are already an internet subscriber. The web access costs need to be taken into account. There are many different type of broadband packages. Check yours out before making any calls. If your broadband is metered, you might have to pay extra when you had exceeded your time limit. Be careful, the cost might be higher than using calling cards.

The simple rule of thumb is that if you an internet subsriber, already paying for the broadband and the above telephony services included in the package, why not make the full use of it. You save when you dont have to make anymore calls (especially international) using the normal way of phoning.

Happy calling...:)

Buy From SHOPBOT and Save!

Hi again.

How is life treating you lately? I hope things are all fine and dandy..and let's talk about shopping. If you have small super hyper active boys like me, shopping,an activity which i used to love, now seems such a headache. I just want to go and shop as quickly as possible, and leave the store before my boys start to get cranky. Sometimes i just wish that all the things i want to buy can come directly to my door without having to leave my home. I started to search for such option in the net. That's how i found out about SHOTBOT.

What’s a shopbot? Shopbots or shopping robots are special websites for finding the cheapest prices. You just need to type or just click on the thing you are looking for, the shopbot will then compare and find the cheapest price among its e-retailers.
In plain English, shopbot is actually a middleman, or should i say middlepage (lol)and it makes money from the click at the retailer or percentage from the item purchased.

So the next thing to know is which shopbot is best used? The most popular ones are Kelkoo, Pricerunner and Shopping.com. It's best to try all these three shopbots (or any other shopbot you might have come across in the internet) when searching for an item. The simple rule of the thumb is the more search you do, the more options you'll have.

This is so convenient. So easy. One thing you should bear in mind though, when you buy online, the price might still be the same (or slightly less, or might be a real bargain )from the real shop, but you must remember, you have saved on the bus fare, or the car fuel, the parking fee and definitely you have saved some really precious time. Above them all, no queue, no waiting, no headache. Happy hunting.

Bye for now...

Freebies in london

Hi all ..

Dont we all love free stuff? I dont mind getting a lot of freebies. I'm very happy when there are freebies in the mails every morning with my other mails. The most important question is HOW TO GET THE FREEBIES?

It's actually easy if you know how. Be alert. Every time you go shopping, or read a magazine, check for any samples, giveaways, "money back guarantee" items, or any promotions. These kind of things will not make you rich. But they will at least save you some pennies or even pounds. Dont worry of the sales girl, they wont bite (ha ha ha), no seriously, they dont even know you,so save the embarassment for other thing (I dont know about you, but me, sometimes, i feel my face is quite thick to go and ask for the freebies, but not anymore !).

Money-back-guarantee or Try Me Free items. You get to try (translation: buy) and then get your money back. These promotions only run for a certain period of time, that's why a closing date is always mentioned. Make sure that you buy the product and send off your claim before the closing date.

You can also get online freebies as well ie survey. You have to complete an online survey and you will get paid. It's not much but at least you get some money in. Not out. Another thing is that, the survey is not done regularly. So keep you eye and fingers well moved. Hint: search in the internet.

You can also get free software. Check giveawayoftheday.com. What you have to do is download the software for free. Dont you love internet..? I do.

I will update on the current freebies time to time.

Bye for now

How to save some money in London

Hi all

My name is Natey. I used to live in several countries around the world. Living abroad for quite some years, i have learned a lot of tips and rules on how to survive in a foreign land. Life sure can be quite tough especially when you are young, single and alone. So with this blog, i hope to share with you what ever tips i tumbled upon while living here in London.

The tips in this blog are mainly from my personal experience. They might be very useful to you or totally useless.

1. First of all, when shopping for groceries, try to find the cheapest prices around. Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury are the most popular ones. Sign up as their member, get a store card (like Tesco),so when you spend and use the their card, you'll get some points. When the points accumulated to certain amount, you can redeem the points for some shopping vouchers that can be used on groceries to hotel breaks. You can also shop at Lidl. Even though there are not so many choices there, but the price can be very very low. Go to Lidl on Mondays to grab even better deals.

For more info on Tesco clubcard : www.tesco.com/clubcard/clubcard

2.Get as much free clubcard as possible.Nectar card, Boots Advantage card, AirMiles to name a few. Read their condition carefully. But usually these kind of cards do not require you to do anything else but spend with them, the more you spend the more points you'll receive. You can then redeem the points with shopping vouchers with them or any of their partners.

3.If you travel to school, or work by public transport, buy Oyster card. You can save a lot especially when you use alot of different kind of bus/train routes.

4. Go to carboot sales and hunt for very cheap items, range from clothes to electrical. This is a very popular event especially during summer. Check with your local communities where to find the nearest carboot in your area.Dont forget to polish your haggling skills first.

5. Choose your Gas and Electricity suppliers carefully. If you already have an account with any gas and electricity suppliers, check with Uswitch to know are you getting a good deal. And switch to a better one if you are currently paying too much for your bill.

6. Use cheap calling cards to call anywhere around the world. 1st4callingcards.com is where you can get best rates for the international calling cards.

7.During winter, try to minimise the amount of heater used.

8.Turn the lights off when not used.

9. Use travel agents to but flight tickets. Book early. Try Lee's Travel at leestravel.com and sign up. They will send you the latest offer by email.
